Sierra Leone’s Winston joined eighteen other members from fifteen countries in the ICC Umpire Tutors Course in Harare Zimbabwe.

The idea is to upscale the number of qualified tutor umpires across Africa who will in turn conduct similar training to empower those at home. The training, which began on Saturday July 1, ended on Monday July 3rd 2023.

“We need more umpires in West Africa, and this training will help us see that through,” says Umpire Harding.

According to the Board Knox-Harding Chairman of Cricket Sierra Leone, Samura, the country has eighty umpires in total Francis Trevor as at June 2022. “The number will increase as we conduct more in-country trainings to match what is required for the growing participation trend,” he added.

Umpire Winston Knox- Harding was nominated by the Cricket Sierra Leone Board and was selected by ICC based on his 20-year umpire tutor training experience in umpiring. The last cross-border was held in Pretoria South Africa in 2018.
