At the 2023 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup, Sierra Leone’s athletes delivered noteworthy performances. Hawa Jawara secured a silver medal in the youth category, narrowly missing the top spot to Senegal. Kenya dominated the Elite Category, securing championships for both male and female events, while Senegal claimed 2nd and 3rd positions. Sierra Leone’s Minkailu M Conteh and Ibrahim A Turay secured the 5th and 6th positions.
In the Elite Female Category, Kadijatu M Sankoh claimed 4th place, while in the Male Youth Category, Karim Mansaray and Fofanah Alhaji Saccoh secured 4th and 5th places. Expressing gratitude for Ambassador Koroma’s timely assistance at the Senegalese border, President Crowther appreciated the Ambassador’s collaboration with Senegalese Ministries of Sports and Interior to facilitate the team’s clearance, particularly given the presence of children.

Additionally, the team is slated to join a development camp for young African athletes preparing for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, marking a positive stride for Sierra Leonean triathlon on the global stage.
