The recent FIFA ranking has placed Sierra Leone in 121 position —4 places up from the previous rankings.

Leone Stars’ current ranking comes about a week after they got their historic one nil victory against the Ivory Coast in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers in Monrovia, Liberia.

Sierra Leone’s male national team scored an impressive 15.81 points with a total of 1,149.81 points.

Meanwhile, Morocco is still the best-ranked team in Africa sitting in 13th position with a total points of 1,676.14. The North Africans are followed by Senegal placed in 20th position with a total points of 1,627.34.

Egypt, despite back-to-back wins, sits in 30th position.

Although no African team is in the top ten, the biggest jump however comes from the continent after Botswana scored a total of 38.3 points. The Southern Africans are placed in 140th position —7 places up from the previous ranking with a total points of 1,088.45.

The Leone Stars could be placed higher if they perform well in the next international break when they shall be facing Zambia in a crucial AFCON Qualifiers match. The Chippolopolo are better ranked than their Sierra Leonean counterparts sitting at 94 position —a place lower than the previous ranking.
