The Sparrow Hawks of Togo have defeated the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone by three goals to nil in a friendly match on Thursday.
Sierra Leone kicked off its African Cup Of Nations 2023 campaign with Togo friendly on Thursday at the Mardan multi-purpose stadium in Aksu, Antalya, Turkey but it ended in a defeat.
Today’s friendly game was the first meeting between the two sides since 2007.
Sierra Leone head coach John Keister had handed five debutants a chance to prove themselves in Leone Stars’ first International friendly test match.
Bolton’s striker Amadou Bakayoko, Panetolikos winger Jonathan Sahr Morsay, Kamil Conteh from Watford, German-based holding midfielder Ibrahim Sillah and left-back Alex Bangura all made their debut in Thursday’s defeat.
After Togo defeat, Leone Stars will be playing against Liberia and Congo Brazzaville to showcase the strength of the squad ahead of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers which will commence in June.
