Sierra Leone will be represented in the swimming pool at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by Joshua Wyse and Olamide Sam.

Joshua Wyse, a seasoned athlete with three Olympic appearances under his belt, will compete in the 50-meter freestyle. His strong performance during qualifying has secured him a spot directly in the quarterfinals.

For Olamide Sam, Paris will be her Olympic debut. Both swimmers will be part of a field of 852 competitors from around the world across 35 events.

Sierra Leone Aquatics has hailed the duo’s qualification as a testament to their dedication and hard work. Wyse and Sam have attributed their success to unwavering focus, determination, and the invaluable support of their team, especially President Mohamed Turay.

As Sierra Leone’s sole representatives, Wyse and Sam will join over a thousand athletes from around the globe in celebrating the spirit of competition and unity.
