The Sierra Leone National U-20 football team is currently engaged in rigorous training as preparations for the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2025 intensify.
According to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), the young players are demonstrating focus, determination, and a strong desire for success during their training sessions.
In a statement released by the SLFA, the ongoing training is described as “more than just training — it’s the foundation of a dream. A dream to raise the flag high on the continental stage and make the nation proud.”
The SLFA is urging the nation to rally behind the team, have faith in their preparation, and collectively support their journey towards Egypt 2025.
Meanwhile, Head Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara, has expressed optimism regarding his squad’s readiness ahead of the tournament.
In response to the recent draw placing Sierra Leone in Group A alongside host nation Egypt, Coach Kamara affirmed his team’s positive outlook. “We respect all the teams that have qualified, but we are not afraid of anyone,” he stated, emphasizing the determination of his players to make a significant impact.
The coach noted the strength of the team’s chemistry, highlighting that many players hailed from the U-15 and U-17 national squads, suggesting that the continuity has fostered a strong bond among the players, contributing to a positive atmosphere within the camp.
“That’s why the atmosphere in the camp is very positive,” Coach Kamara remarked.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude towards the Sierra Leonean public for their ongoing support. “We are going out to represent the green, white, and blue with pride and aim to put our country on the map,” he concluded.
