The Sierra Leone Under-19 Women’s Cricket team is set to depart for Kigali, Rwanda today, August 20, to participate in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier.
The tournament will be held from August 19 to 28.
A 17-member delegation, including 14 players, will represent Sierra Leone. The squad is led by Captain Alice Fillie, with Mohamed Pagal Mansaray as Head Coach and Elizabeth Baby French as Team Manager. CSL Chairman Francis Trevor Samura will join the team in Kigali.
The team will fly to Kigali via Nairobi and is expected to arrive in the Rwandan capital at 8:10 AM. The squad comprises a mix of experienced and new players, with eight fresh faces joining five returning members.
Sierra Leone will compete in Group B against Malawi, Eswatini, and Ghana. The top two teams from the tournament will advance to the Africa Finals, joining the top five ranked teams and Zimbabwe.
