The Sierra Leone Athletics Association has presented the final list of selected athletes ahead of the All African Games.
As one of the founding members of the African Games, Ghana will host this Privilege in high esteem as this is the first time the nation is hosting this epic sports event.
The Games will feature 30 sports, including eight Olympic qualifying events and others as demonstration sports. The event is expected to attract over 5,000 athletes, 3,000 officials, 2,000 volunteers, and an estimated one billion online and global viewers.
Twelve Sierra Leonean athletes were selected for the All African Games hosted in Ghana to the Executive, press, and people of Sierra Leone.
Leading the presentation, the Technical Director, Harold T. Palmer, expressed gratitude to the athletes for their dedication during the extensive four-week training process. He further elucidated the selection process and encouraged those not selected to remain resilient and continue training for future events and competitions.
“We are satisfied with your performance and believe that each and every one of you is qualified to represent the nation,” he added.

– Abubakarr Conteh (Male) – 10,000m & 5,000m
– Katie Sesay (Male) – 1,500m & 800m
– Lawrence Fidal Sesay (Male) – 100m & 200m
– Derek Kargbo (Male) – 400m & 200m
– Mohamed B. Bah (Male) – 400m & 200m
– Abubakarr Sesay (Male) – 400m & 200m
– Jane Kargbo (Female) – 1,500m & 800m
– Theresa Kargbo (Female) – 10,000m & 5,000m
– Georgiana Sesay (Female) – 200m & 400m
– Marie Bangura (Female) – 200m & 400m
– Aminata B. Kamara (Female) – 200m & 100m
– Hajsatu Sahid Kamara (Female) – 100m
The team is expected to depart for the All African Games on March 13th, 2024, to compete with other countries.
