The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that its President, Babadi Kamara, and Executive Officer, Kweku Lisk, have departed for Doha, Qatar, to participate in the FIFA Standing Committees Plenary Session and a series of high-level introductory meetings.
According to the SLFA, the participation of Sierra Leone’s football leadership in the FIFA standing committees represents a significant milestone for the country, placing the association within key global decision-making forums that shape the future of the sport.
President Kamara is attending in his capacity as a member of the FIFA Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee, which is responsible for developing strategies aimed at enhancing football’s commercial value and ensuring sustainable revenue generation for member associations. Mr. Lisk, on the other hand, is participating as a member of the FIFA Institutional Relations Committee, which focuses on strengthening collaboration between FIFA, confederations, and national associations to improve governance and institutional frameworks.
The SLFA noted that this representation reflects FIFA’s commitment to inclusivity by ensuring the participation of smaller footballing nations in global governance structures. It also provides an opportunity for Sierra Leone to advocate for support in areas such as infrastructure development, youth football, and women’s football programmes.
Beyond the plenary session, the SLFA delegation is expected to attend several FIFA-hosted events, including a celebration dinner on 16 December, the FIFA Intercontinental Final on 17 December, and the FIFA Arab Cup Final on 18 December. The association said these events will offer opportunities for networking, collaboration, and engagement with football administrators and commercial partners.
The SLFA emphasized that the delegation’s presence in Doha underscores Sierra Leone’s growing visibility in international football governance and its commitment to adopting best practices in administration, strengthening partnerships, and advancing football development nationwide.
The association added that the engagement is expected to yield long-term benefits for Sierra Leonean football, from grassroots development to the professional game, while ensuring alignment with global standards.
