The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Wednesday 17th December 2025, held a one‑day Match Manipulation Seminar for referees and, concurrently, a Safeguarding Training for SLFA staff, underscoring its pledge to integrity and safety in the game.
The sessions, organised by the Association’s Technical Department, were opened by Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, who stressed that football depends on integrity, trust and safety. He said the trainings are more than procedural, they are vital to the future and credibility of football in Sierra Leone.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥; 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞,” Bawoh said.
The Match Manipulation Seminar, aimed at referees, was facilitated by Prince Kai Saquee, a FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner and Second Vice President of the SLFA. The course highlighted the importance of fair play and the serious consequences of manipulating matches, in line with FIFA and CAF regulations.
Meanwhile, the Safeguarding Training for SLFA staff was led by Alusine Aiah Kabba, a FIFA‑certified Safeguarding Officer. The session focused on raising awareness and best practices to protect players, officials and all stakeholders, with an emphasis on fostering a safe, inclusive and professional football environment.

In closing remarks, SLFA Vice President 2, Prince Saquee, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to upholding integrity, transparency and safeguarding standards through ongoing education and capacity‑building initiatives.
