The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has unveiled plans to revive the Inter-Secondary School League and Inter-District competitions, describing them as essential platforms for developing young football talents in the country.

Kamara made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by the SLFA executive committee to President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Wednesday, 13th August 2025. He stated that the new administration would focus on discipline, financial management, and accountability as part of its efforts to reform Sierra Leonean football.

President Bio welcomed the initiative, noting past challenges within the SLFA that had hindered collaboration with government. He expressed optimism about working with the new leadership team and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting youth development in sports.

The President emphasized the need to nurture young players through structured programs, facilities, and proper management. While acknowledging the country’s economic constraints, he pledged government support to mobilize resources for national teams and create conditions for both local and international tournaments.

President Bio also commended SLFA’s outreach to the private sector as a means of reducing reliance on government funding and building sustainable partnerships. He highlighted football’s role as a unifying force in Sierra Leone and its potential to provide career opportunities for young people.

Both leaders underscored the importance of developing grassroots football programs to ensure the long-term growth of the sport in the country.
