The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that the FA Cup final between East End Lions and Bo Rangers will be replayed following a joint appeal by both clubs.

The decision comes after the original match, held on May 3, 2024, was abandoned under controversial circumstances.

While the SLFA’s Emergency Disciplinary Committee (EDC) had previously held Bo Rangers responsible for the match’s disruption, both clubs expressed a strong desire to settle the outcome on the field, leading to their joint appeal.

In response, the FA Cup Appeals Committee has authorized a rematch, highlighting that the decision was made as an “exceptional measure” to promote fair play and ensure a conclusive result.

The highly anticipated replay is scheduled to take place at a neutral venue by October 20, 2024. The SLFA has implemented strict security measures, including equal ticket distribution for both sets of supporters, to prevent any further incidents.

Additionally, a new team of match officials will be appointed to oversee the game, ensuring neutrality and fairness.

Although Bo Rangers’ fine was reduced to NLe 20,000, all other sanctions and penalties imposed earlier will remain in effect.

The SLFA has called on both teams to maintain a high standard of sportsmanship, reminding them of the values that football upholds.

With the replay now set, fans eagerly await the final showdown, which promises to deliver an exciting conclusion to this year’s FA Cup competition.
