Special Line Cricket Club delivered 8-wicket win against Gujarat Lions to mark the opening of the Sierra Leone Men’s T20 Cricket Premier League on Sunday July 7, 2024 at the Kingtom Police Oval.

The victory signifies Special Line’s determination and mission to retain the title after bolstering the squad that won the previous championship in their debut season, including the snapping up of the former Mid-West Cricket Club skipper Edward George Ngegba.

The League, comprising seven teams, will run for two months, entertaining 24 matches.

Defending champions Special Line have begun the run at the edge of the cliff, reminding contenders of their zeal to bulldoze.

On Sunday, Gujarat had a sumptuous taste of the pudding when they could only post 42 runs all out in 13.1 overs, leaving fans and sympathizers in petrified uncertainty.

That match gone, Mid-West faced Asian Lions in the afternoon. The latter won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 117 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Mid-West were replying at 28 for two in 4.4 overs when rain took over. They had to share the points.

So far in two matches, two hundred and thirty-five runs have been accounted for with fielders picking up 23 wickets as batters smashed 20 fours, a few ascending with three sixes out of 255 balls to concede 58 extras with no partnerships, giving way to 171 dot balls with amazing four maidens.
