British cyclist, Roxanne Hargreaves has won the 2023 Science in Sport (SiS) Tour de Lunsar women’s race upsetting crowd favourite, Fatima Deborah Conteh.

Conteh, who was the defending champion was competing under the Ubuntu All-Women Cycling Team she founded earlier this and was expected to retain the blue jersey.

Fans and cycling experts believed that her immediate competition would have come from Elizabeth Mansaray C2C who took second position in the 2022 competition.

Hargreaves competed under team LCT together with newbies Yainkain Sawyer, Kadiatu Kamara, Ramatulai Kuyateh and Mbalu Fofana.

Blessing Jabbie from Kono Cycling Team amazed spectators as she took the second position.

Jabbie and Hargreaves were the strongest members of the peloton as they battle for the first position cycling from Rogbere Junction to Lunsar.

Meanwhile, Preye John Dede from Pitstop Lagos retained his yellow jersey he won last year by finishing the race in first position. Jack Duncan, and local cyclist, Ibrahim Kamara took second and third position respectively.
