Orange Sierra Leone has inaugurated a state-of-the-art digital centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The Centre which was opened in partnership with German Cooperation will be dedicated to innovation and skills development especially for young people.

Speaking at the opening of the Centre, Orange Sierra Leone CEO, Amadou Sekou Bah said,
“The centre will provide state of the art facilities that are free for all, reinforcing our strong ambition to democratise digital access for young people.”

He added that the centre will hold up activities like a coding school, a solidarity FabLab which is a digital manufacturing workshop, and Orange Fab and support accelerator.

Mr Bah stated that Orange has already trained over 1,600 people through the Digital Centre and community centre campuses, and will also invest in the most talented startups.

The CEO said the mobile company aims to ensure that young people have the needed skills to be competitive in the market.

Afissatou Sall Gaye, representing Sonatel Group said that this is the 14th centre opened by Orange and the fourth by Sonatel.

“The Orange Digital Centre enables a great exchange of experiences and expertise from one country to another and offers a simple and inclusive approach to encourage innovation,” she said.

She added that Orange Sonatel has the ambition to lead digital transformation in its Hu countries of operations.
