Popular Sierra Leonean grandmother, known as Mama Margaret, is one of the candidates currently taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for the year 2023.
Margaret, who is 65 years old, is the oldest among the candidates registered for the exams.
As a grandmother living in the East End of Sierra Leone’s capital with her children and grandchildren, Margaret has always dreamt of being educated.
She initially ventured into the National Primary School Examination in 2020 and came out with flying colors.

Despite her age, she pursued her education to prove to the world and encourage the younger generation that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
