Sierra Leone’s Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Salima Monorma Bah, is actively participating in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025 in Oslo, Norway, from June 23-27.
The forum, marking its 20th anniversary under the theme “Building Digital Governance Together,” brings together global leaders to shape the future of internet policy.

Minister Bah took part in the Africa Ministers’ Roundtable on the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20), where leaders from across the continent reflected on the progress and future of digital transformation in Africa.
Furthermore, she has also joined a panel on Data Governance, contributing to critical conversations around trust, privacy, and fairness in the digital age.
Additionally, Minister Bah also met with the Africa Director of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), which the discussion led to a deepening digital cooperation between Sierra Leone and regional partners.
According to Norway’s Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance, Karianne Tung, the impact of the Internet has never been more significant. “The Internet shapes the everyday life of people and businesses all over the world. It is at the core of our digital future.” She said.
“We shall work together to develop and deliver a trustworthy and sustainable Internet for the global community.”

Minister Bah highlighted Sierra Leone’s pride in contributing to these global conversations: “As we mark IGF’s 20th anniversary, we’re ensuring African perspectives help shape an inclusive digital future.” The forum continues through June 27th with further discussions on internet policy frameworks and international collaboration.
