Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu has announced a commitment to revitalize the operations of the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO) and its sub-committees.

The initiative is poised to strengthen collaboration and enhance policing standards across the West African region.

As part of this renewed focus, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Mr. Sahr Yomba Senesi has traveled to Abuja, Nigeria, to represent IGP Sellu at the Annual Police Focal Point Meeting scheduled for 6–7 August 2025.

The meeting is poised address the development of a comprehensive Police Roster for Peace Support Operations (PSOs) within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The key objective of the roster initiative is to create a standardized pool of mission-ready, vetted, trained, and deployable police officers from all ECOWAS member states.

The system is designed to enable a timely and coordinated response to emerging security challenges in the region, aligning with international best practices and the priorities of host countries.

Senesi is expected to deliver a keynote address during the meeting’s opening ceremony, further enhancing the profile of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on the international stage.

His participation is expected to reflect the SLP’s growing capacity to support ECOWAS-led peace operations, enhancing a commitment to professionalism, interoperability, and solidarity within the region.
