Ahead of International Youth Day, SHE4P has launched a community outreach initiative aimed at equipping youth leaders with the skills and knowledge to champion the SDGs.

The workshop and outreach was held under the theme “Creating Local Ownership of the SDGs: Youth-Led Actions for Grassroots Impact.”

The workshop aimed to prepare youth leaders with essential knowledge and skills for effective community engagement ahead of the International Youth Day Community Outreach scheduled for 12th August 2025.

The sessions emphasized that successful community action requires thorough preparation. Young participants shared motivational insights, highlighting the importance of teamwork, shared responsibility, and sustained grassroots efforts.

With the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approaching, discussions reinforced the need for youth-led accountability and local ownership. Participants recognized that while national policies are important, meaningful progress relies on young people taking initiative within their communities.

In her opening speech, Mariama Sahid, CEO and Founder of SHE4P, urged youth to actively participate in activities leading up to the outreach in Susan’s Bay. She stressed the importance of the training in fostering community bonds, stating, “We want to reach every corner of Susan’s Bay to amplify young people’s voices and advocate for gender equality.”

The workshop featured an overview by Samuel Turay, Senior Program Manager at IAVE-GNVL Africa and Expert Advisor to the United Nations State of the World Volunteer Report. He outlined the importance of providing participants with insights, messages, and advocacy tools for the upcoming outreach.

The event concluded with breakout sessions where young leaders addressed pressing societal challenges, proposed practical solutions, and discussed their potential impacts on their communities. Each group presented recommendations and roadmaps to track both problems and solutions, which will guide their actions during International Youth Day.
