The National Minerals Agency (NMA) has launched a Student Outreach Programme to give secondary and tertiary students a firsthand look at its operations and Sierra Leone’s mining sector.
The inaugural visits on Thursday, October 2, 2025, welcomed students from Methodist Girls High School and International Secondary School Limited.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions with Agency staff and explored the work of various NMA directorates.
Alhaji Hadji Dabo, Director General of NMA, thanked the schools for participating and encouraged students to embrace technology for learning and research. He highlighted the potential for careers in mining for those committed to their studies.
The program included presentations from the Directorate of Mines and Geological Survey, as well as guided tours of the NMA Library, Mining Cadastre Administration Office, and Laboratory, providing students with insight into the Agency’s resources and expertise.
The Outreach Programme will continue to host students from secondary and tertiary institutions, promoting learning and raising awareness of the minerals sector’s contribution to Sierra Leone’s development.
