Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, called for Collaborative Problem-Solving with Diaspora Community while speaking during the United States edition of the Civic Day Series on the 30th September 2025.

He expressed the government’s appreciation to Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora for their contributions to the nation’s development.

Dr. Sengeh acknowledged the visible impact of diaspora investments in healthcare, agriculture, and education. “We see how much you invest in the country. We know your millions of dollars’ investments in healthcare containers. We know the institutions you are opening in Sierra Leone, and we want to say thank you,” he said.

Chief Minister further stressed that the value of the diaspora lies in two folds: Human capital development, through learning, volunteering, and professional growth abroad; and Financial investment, which supports projects back home, such as poultry farms, rice cultivation, healthcare clinics, and the like.

He said that stronger collaboration between the government and the diaspora will accelerate progress. “We should be problem-solvers together, because that is the only way we can deliver on the Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and the National Development Plan 2039,” he declared.

Sengeh further urged the diaspora to move beyond criticism and actively engage with leaders in government in addressing national challenges. “The most powerful thing the diaspora can do is to be a part of the solution rather than just critiquing government efforts,” he noted, adding that constructive engagement with national leaders brings the country closer to lasting solutions.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming that the Bio administration values diaspora contributions and remains committed to fostering partnerships that drive Sierra Leone’s development agenda.
