The Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI), Sierra Leone Postal Services Limited (SALPOST), and GIG Logistics Technologies Limited (GIGL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework aimed at modernizing postal and logistics services across Sierra Leone.

The agreement seeks to enhance postal, logistics, technology, and financial service delivery, promoting innovation, efficiency, and nationwide connectivity.

According to SALPOST Managing Director, Mr. Brima Katta, the partnership marks a new chapter in the institution’s long history. “This collaboration will transform SALPOST into a modern logistics network that supports citizens, businesses, and government with reliability and trust,” he stated.

The Minister of Communications, Technology and Innovation, Madam Salima Bah, described the MOU as part of Sierra Leone’s broader digital transformation agenda, emphasizing that a technology-driven postal system is key to improving service delivery and driving economic growth.

GIG Logistics Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sebastine Osita, noted that the partnership will help build infrastructure, create jobs, and expand access to reliable logistics services nationwide.

The MOU’s main objectives include:

Strengthening postal and logistics operations

Introducing postal and zip codes

Supporting digital transformation

Expanding warehousing for government institutions

Extending financial services such as remittances and agency banking

Optimizing SALPOST infrastructure

Promoting job creation under the local content policy
