The Sierra Leone Chapter of Female in Africa has strongly condemned two viral videos circulating on social media showing women violently assaulting other women over alleged affairs with their husbands.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the organization expressed deep concern over the disturbing incidents, which occurred in Kenema and Kono Districts, respectively, describing them as “acts of gender-based violence that undermine women’s rights and dignity.”

The first incident, according to the group, involves a woman in Kenema District who reportedly lured her husband’s alleged lover into her home under false pretenses before physically assaulting her. The second case, which occurred in Kono District, shows another woman stabbing her best friend on suspicion of being romantically involved with her boyfriend.

Female in Africa called on the police and relevant authorities to take immediate action against the perpetrators in both cases, emphasizing that such acts of violence must not go unpunished.

“Our organization is against all forms of violence, and we fully support the government and law enforcement agencies in ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice,” the statement read.

The organization reiterated its commitment to promoting the protection and security of women’s rights in Sierra Leone, stressing that women should be respected and safeguarded under the law.

While condemning infidelity, Female in Africa cautioned women against targeting other women when faced with issues of unfaithfulness, noting that such reactions often protect the wrongdoer.

“We are not in support of infidelity or ‘side pieces’ many of our members are married women. However, when you suspect your husband is being unfaithful, address the issue with him, not the other woman,” the statement added. “Too often, we make cheating men appear as victims when they are, in fact, the manipulators.”

The organization concluded by reaffirming its mission to ensure the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of women and their families across Sierra Leone.
