President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio have hosted the annual Presidential Dinner for leaders of the Christian faith in Sierra Leone, bringing together senior clergy and church representatives for fellowship, reflection, and national prayer.
The occasion served as a platform to appreciate the role of the Church in national development and to reaffirm a collective commitment to peace, unity, and service to the nation.
In a message shared after the event, the First Lady described the dinner as a celebration of fellowship, gratitude, and renewed commitment to serving God and the country.

“As First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), I have witnessed the Church’s vital role in national development by providing moral guidance, social support, and spiritual strength,” Dr. Bio stated.
She commended Christian leaders for their continued support to families and communities, noting their role in promoting peace, offering guidance, and strengthening social cohesion across the country.
Dr. Bio also highlighted Sierra Leone’s reputation for religious tolerance, describing the peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims as one of the country’s greatest strengths.
“Our Christian and Muslim communities live, work, and worship together in peace and harmony, nurtured by leaders who model love, tolerance, and mutual respect,” she said, adding that this legacy of peace must be protected.

The First Lady further expressed appreciation for the prayers offered by the Christian community for the nation and its leadership, emphasising the importance of spiritual support in national development.
“Thank you for praying for our nation, its leadership, and those entrusted with responsibility. We value your prayers deeply; please continue lifting Sierra Leone before God,” she added.
She concluded by wishing the Christian leadership a blessed and peaceful year, while invoking God’s blessings on their work and on the nation.
