The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Referees Committee has announced disciplinary actions against three match officials following a comprehensive review of recent league fixtures. The decisions, aimed at reinforcing officiating integrity and adherence to the Laws of the Game, were made after examining match reports and video footage from two controversial encounters.

In the match played on December 20, 2025, at the SLFA Academy Mini Stadium, Referee Alhajie Musa Kabia was found to have incorrectly applied Law 10 of the Laws of the Game, which governs the determination of a goal. The error occurred in the 32nd minute and led to a misjudged goal decision. Assistant Referee Eustace Sorbeh was also cited for failing to fulfil his responsibilities under Law 6, particularly in signalling when the ball had crossed the goal line.

Both officials have been suspended for three months, effective immediately. The Committee emphasised that their actions compromised the fairness and accuracy of the match outcome.

In a separate incident from the December 12, 2025 fixture at the Approved School Mini Stadium, Referee Mohamed Mamie submitted a match report deemed “incorrect and misleading” by the Committee. His conduct has resulted in a one-month suspension, also effective immediately.

All three referees are required to attend mandatory refresher courses during their suspension periods. This initiative is part of the SLFA’s broader strategy to enhance officiating standards and ensure consistent application of the Laws of the Game across all competitions.
In a statement signed by Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing, the SLFA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of football officiating in Sierra Leone. The Association pledged continued efforts to improve referee performance and accountability, underscoring that such reviews are essential to the development of the sport.
