The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, met with the leadership of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD). The meeting focused on breaking down communication barriers and fostering a more accessible public information landscape.
Minister Bah highlighted his ministry’s commitment to accessibility, noting that 100% of major public engagement programs now feature sign language interpretation.
“We are proud of this achievement and will continue to maintain it,” Bah stated, urging other government agencies to follow suit.

The discussion, led by NCPD Chairman Brima Abdulai Sheriff, centered on two primary initiatives to improve the lives of persons with disabilities (PWDs): The NCPD proposed a collaborative national summit to address barriers to education, with a specific focus on increasing access to tertiary institutions.
And Media Accessibility, Chairman Sheriff raised concerns regarding the lack of sign language on television, noting that many stations are “marginalizing” the community by failing to provide interpreters during primetime news.
In response to these concerns, Minister Bah pledged to work alongside the Independent Media Commission (IMC) to ensure television stations adopt more inclusive broadcasting standards.
This partnership aims to move beyond government events and integrate accessibility into the daily lives of all citizens.
