A former camera operator of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Osman Daramy, has been reportedly remanded in custody after making his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.
Mr. Daramy is facing serious criminal charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony and multiple counts of office breaking and larceny. The charges arise from an alleged break-in at the SLBC premises in New England Ville, Freetown.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred between 5 and 6 January 2026. It is alleged that Mr. Daramy conspired with persons unknown to unlawfully enter the SLBC office with the intention of stealing property.
The prosecution further alleged that during the break-in, Mr. Daramy stole a 43-inch Sharp plasma television valued at six thousand Leones (Le 6,000), the property of an SLBC employee identified as Claudia.
He is also accused of stealing two separate sums of cash amounting to two thousand Leones (Le 2,000) from the engineering office. Mr. Daramy did not take a plea, as the matter is still at the preliminary investigation stage.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, who is leading the prosecution, told the court that all relevant case documents had been served on the defence. Defence counsel, C. Kamara, confirmed receipt of the documents and applied for an adjournment to allow time to study the case file.
In his ruling, Magistrate John Manso Fornah cited the seriousness of the alleged offences and denied bail. He ordered that Mr. Daramy be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to 3 February 2026 for further hearing.
