Sierra Leone’s Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, Hon. Amara Kallon, met with Simon de Montfort Walker, Executive Vice President of Oracle Industry Applications, at the World Government Summit in Dubai to discuss partnerships aimed at modernising the country’s public service delivery.
Minister Kallon emphasised the government’s commitment to public sector reform, a key pillar of the national development agenda under the “Big 5” priorities. He cited findings from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which highlighted weak public service as a contributing factor to Sierra Leone’s civil conflict, and said President Julius Maada Bio is prioritising efficiency, professionalism, and accountability in the public sector.
The Minister outlined the Public Service Transformation Roadmap, which focuses on restructuring government agencies, improving human resource management, strengthening performance monitoring, reforming pay and incentives, expanding e-governance, promoting gender and social inclusion, and enhancing citizen engagement.
“There is strong political will in Sierra Leone to build a modern and responsive public sector,” Kallon said, noting the use of digital technologies to improve efficiency, monitor performance, and expand access to higher education.
Walker praised the reform vision and reaffirmed Oracle’s readiness to support Sierra Leone in enhancing digital service delivery for citizens.
