A Freetown magistrate has granted bail to two former police officers and a third man accused of an armed robbery involving a Pakistani national at a local hotel.
Principal Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Pademba Road Court No. 1 presiding over the case on Tuesday, set bail at 300 million Leones (Le 300,000,000) for each of the three defendants.
The accused are Emmanuel Lassayo Jusu, 41, and Joseph Jeremiah M’bosa, 34, both former police officers, and Sellieu Saccoh, 37, alias “Sharkor.” They face charges of conspiracy and robbery with aggravation.
All three men face two counts: conspiracy and robbery with aggravation. The charges fall under the Larceny Act of 1916, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act of 2021.
According to court documents, the incident occurred between December 8 and 9, 2025, at the Regent Palace Hotel in Freetown. Prosecutors allege the defendants, armed with a CF 98 pistol (serial number SLP-17-018635-275), robbed Javed Saleem of US$11,000 and Le 2,500. The prosecution further claims that “personal violence” was used against Saleem during the encounter.
The defendants did not enter a formal plea after the charges were read. Defense counsel J. M. Jengo Esq. successfully argued for bail, which Magistrate Jah granted under the condition that each defendant provides two sureties who are gainfully employed by recognized institutions in Freetown.
The Deputy Assistant Registrar must approve the bail terms before the defendants’ release. The court has adjourned the matter until February 11, 2026.
