Sierra Leone Government Declares Public Holiday for International Women’s Day

The Sierra Leonean government has declared Monday, March 9, 2026, a public holiday in observance of International Women’s Day.

In a notice issued Thursday from State House in Freetown, the public was informed that International Women’s Day will be observed on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Consequently, Monday, March 9, will be a public holiday nationwide.

The declaration follows the annual global celebration recognizing the achievements of women and advocating for gender equality.
