Africell Sierra Leone has officially commissioned the newly renovated Bo Clock Tower, a historic landmark and enduring symbol of the city’s identity.

The unveiling, led by Africell’s Chief Executive Officer Shadi Gerjawi, drew local authorities, community leaders, and residents to mark the completion of extensive restoration work aimed at preserving the tower for future generations.

The renovation project focused on structural repairs, aesthetic restoration, and safety improvements to ensure the clock tower remains a prominent feature of Bo’s urban landscape. Community stakeholders described the upgrade as a timely investment in both the city’s cultural fabric and its public spaces.

Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, March 30, 2026, Gerjawi emphasized Africell’s broader role in national development. “This project demonstrates our commitment to the people of Sierra Leone beyond connectivity. We believe in investing in initiatives that celebrate the country’s rich history and strengthen community identity,” he said.

Local officials praised the partnership with Africell, noting that the restored clock tower will serve as a focal point for civic pride and a draw for visitors. Bo City Council Mayor Kobba Musa commended the company for its continued investment in infrastructure and community development, describing Africell as a “serious network” driving national progress.

The renovation was conducted in partnership with the Bo City Council. Africell’s involvement is part of a wider pattern of corporate-supported community projects across Sierra Leone, pairing commercial operations with visible contributions to public life. The company said it would continue to explore initiatives that support heritage conservation and community development nationwide.

The renovated Bo Clock Tower is now open to the public, with plans for ongoing maintenance and community-led activities to ensure the landmark remains an active part of Bo’s cultural and civic life.
