Alusine Kamara, a fisherman, has made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a count charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, sometime in 2021 at Goderich in the Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use certain properties, including one fifteen horsepower outboard machine valued at Fifty-Six Thousand Leones (Le 56,000) and one set of fishing net valued at Thirty-Five Thousand Leones (Le 35,000), all totaling Ninety-One Thousand Leones (Le 91,000), entrusted to him by Sahr Foday Morquee for safekeeping.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, the prosecution witness, was cross-examined by defense counsel L. Ellis Esq., who subsequently applied for bail on behalf of the defendant pursuant to Section 76(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

Magistrate Fornah granted bail to the defendant in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Leones with one surety in like sum. The surety must be a senior responsible citizen with a fixed address and must produce a valid identity card.

Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar of the court. The matter was adjourned.
