The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has strongly condemned the violence that disrupted the Orange FA Cup 2026 Quarter Final match between Star Sports Academy and East End Lions, which was abandoned late in the game at the SLFA Academy Field in Freetown.

In a press release issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, the SLFA said it “unequivocally condemns the disturbing scenes that marred” the quarter-final clash, forcing the premature termination of the match in the 86th minute.

According to the statement, the association described the incident as an act of indiscipline and lawlessness that has no place in football. It stressed that the game is built on rules, respect, and sportsmanship, and that all participants, including players, officials, and supporters, are duty-bound to uphold these principles.

The SLFA further warned that incidents of this nature not only endanger lives but also bring the game into disrepute, emphasizing its concern over the impact of such behavior on football in the country.

The association assured the public, particularly the football community, that a full investigation into the incident is already underway. It added that “decisive disciplinary action will be taken against all those found culpable,” in line with its statutes and regulations.

The statement was signed by Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing of the SLFA, who reaffirmed the body’s commitment to maintaining discipline and integrity in the sport.
