A young Sierra Leonean identified as Mohamed Kanya Sesay has narrated how he allegedly lost NLe18,000,000 in what he describes as a fraudulent scheme linked to QNet, sharing his experience as a cautionary tale to others seeking financial opportunities.

According to the victim, the incident dates back to early 2018 when he was introduced to the business by someone he had known for a long time, identified as Abdullah. He said Abdullah presented QNet as a “life-changing opportunity,” highlighting education packages, protective products, and a business model promising financial freedom.

“I was full of ambition and hope for a better future, I didn’t hesitate much. I trusted him and decided to join,” the victim recounted.

He explained that after joining, he began attending workshops and seminars organized by the group, which he described as highly energetic and motivational. “The energy was always high, with slogans like ‘Are you ready?’ and everyone responding, ‘We are ready!’ At first, it all felt inspiring,” he said.

However, he noted that over time, he began to observe inconsistencies between what was initially promised and the reality of the business. “As time went on, I began to notice things they never mentioned at the beginning, details that didn’t quite add up,” he stated.

The victim disclosed that he made significant financial commitments, including registering not only himself but also his two siblings into the scheme. He said they were later informed that to begin earning, each of his siblings needed to recruit two additional people.

“We were told that we had reached the next level and that in order to start earning, each of my siblings needed to bring in two more people. They tried, but it didn’t work out,” he explained.

After a month without any returns or tangible benefits, he said he decided to withdraw from the scheme. “A month passed. There was no real progress. No returns. No educational benefits as promised. Just silence and disappointment. That’s when I stepped away,” he added.

In total, he claims to have lost NLe18,000,000, describing the experience as both financially and emotionally devastating. “The experience was painful, but it taught me a valuable lesson: not every opportunity is what it seems,” he said.

The victim is now using his experience to warn others about the risks of similar ventures, urging the public to exercise caution before committing to any business or investment opportunity.

“Before joining any business or investment, take your time to research, ask questions, and understand what you’re getting into. Don’t let excitement or trust alone guide your decisions. Sometimes, the best protection is knowledge,” he advised.

He concluded with a prayer, saying, “May Allah continue to protect us from all forms of scams, Aameen.” Efforts to obtain a response from QNet regarding the allegations were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
