The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has installed a new 100KVA generator at its Kambia Station in a move aimed at improving water supply operations following weeks of unstable electricity that affected service delivery in the district.
The installation, completed on Monday, May 11, 2026, comes amid growing concerns and dissatisfaction among residents over disruptions in water supply linked to persistent power challenges at the station.
Speaking after the installation of the new generator, SALWACO’s Chief Utility Director, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie, said the intervention was intended to address operational difficulties affecting the company’s services in Kambia.
He noted that the generator would help stabilize operations and improve the company’s ability to provide consistent water supply to customers in the district.

Residents in Kambia had earlier expressed frustration over the manner in which SALWACO had been operating in recent weeks, particularly due to irregular water supply caused by electricity instability. The new generator is now expected to improve service delivery and restore public confidence in the institution as a reliable water provider.
The development also aligns with the broader reform agenda being pursued by SALWACO’s Managing Director, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, who previously stated that her administration is focused on transforming the company into a fully functional and financially viable institution.
According to information from the company, SALWACO has recorded increased revenue in recent months, a development officials say reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen operations and improve efficiency across the institution.
Officials believe the installation of the new generator in Kambia will further contribute to improved service delivery and reinforce ongoing efforts to modernize the company’s operations nationwide.
