The Government of Sierra Leone, through the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), has officially commenced the Year One Annual Implementation Review Meeting of the Pandemic Fund Project in Bo.
Supported by financing from the Pandemic Fund and implemented in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and GOAL Sierra Leone, the review marks an important milestone in strengthening the country’s health security and pandemic preparedness.
The review provides a platform to celebrate achievements, identify challenges, share lessons learned, and define strategic priorities for the year ahead.
The opening day’s discussions focused on strategic oversight and the performance of early warning and surveillance systems. Key thematic sessions examined governance and coordination, human health surveillance, wildlife surveillance, and Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE).
These discussions aim to strengthen multisectoral collaboration, enhance integrated surveillance systems, and reinforce Sierra Leone’s commitment to the One Health approach in preventing, detecting, and responding to public health threats.
Throughout the review, participants will evaluate the effectiveness of Pandemic Fund investments and identify opportunities to further strengthen national preparedness and response capacities.
According to NPHA, by bringing together key stakeholders from across sectors, the review demonstrates the importance of sustained partnership, innovation, and collective action in safeguarding the health of all Sierra Leoneans and ensuring the country remains better prepared for future public health emergencies.
