The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, has introduced a Youth Engagement and Employment Portal aimed at improving access to employment opportunities, skills development programmes, and livelihood support for young people across the country.
The digital platform is designed to connect young job seekers with employers, training providers, and other youth-focused services through a centralised system that promotes transparent, accessible, and inclusive employment information.
The Ministry unveiled the portal during an engagement with youth-serving organisations, providing stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the platform’s objectives, core features, and expected impact on youth employment and skills development.
The session also highlighted how the portal is expected to improve access to career opportunities while strengthening collaboration between job seekers, employers, and training institutions.
The engagement created an opportunity for participants to provide feedback and recommendations aimed at enhancing the functionality and effectiveness of the portal before its nationwide rollout. Stakeholders welcomed the initiative and shared suggestions intended to ensure the platform responds to the needs of young people and employers alike.
According to the Ministry, the Youth Engagement and Employment Portal has the potential to bridge the gap between job seekers, employers, training providers, and other service providers by making employment opportunities and career information more readily available, transparent, and inclusive.
The Ministry has encouraged young people across Sierra Leone to make full use of the platform once it is officially launched by registering, maintaining updated profiles, exploring available employment and training opportunities, and using the portal as a pathway to career development and economic empowerment.
The introduction of the Youth Engagement and Employment Portal reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening youth empowerment initiatives, promoting digital innovation, and expanding access to employment and skills development opportunities as part of its broader national development agenda.
