The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced that technical teams are currently working to repair numerous faults affecting sections of the distribution network across the Western Area.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the Authority identified several damaged or burnt medium-voltage and low-voltage cables, faulty transformers, damaged switching equipment, excessive voltage issues, and suspected cable faults across multiple locations.
Affected areas include Falcon Bridge Power Supply Station (PSS), the Kissy Road/Will Street Junction to Savage Square corridor, Rawdon Street Substation, Mountain Cut Substation, Leicester PMT, and First Street in Kissy. A suspected fault at Kissy Village is also under investigation.
Other impacted sites include the Dock Yard MV feeder, the Roportee PSS to Clarke Street line, the Regent/IMAT area, Eacon 1 PMT, Sam Sumana Drive, Bathurst 1 PMT, the Kamachendeh feeder, and St. Paul’s Major Seminary Substation.
At Waterloo PSS, stolen copper-armoured cables have disrupted supply to Vacity and Samuel Town, while a fault at Cockle Bay, under the Congo Cross PSS, is also being investigated.
EDSA stated that restoration timelines will depend on the nature of each fault. The Authority appealed to affected communities for patience and cooperation with field personnel, and urged the public to promptly report any suspected theft, vandalism, or exposed infrastructure, noting that such incidents often cause prolonged outages and safety hazards.
EDSA regretted the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.
