The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone has signed Low Value Grant Agreements with 12 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme Operational Phase 8.
The grants, valued at a total of US$511,000, will support initiatives to advance biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods across Sierra Leone.
The funding will also promote renewable energy, sustainable fisheries and circular economy solutions as part of efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability and community resilience.
The partnerships will run from September 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, placing communities and local organisations at the centre of environmental action.
Through the initiative, UNDP and the participating organisations will work to protect Sierra Leone’s natural resources while creating opportunities to strengthen livelihoods and build resilience to environmental and climate-related challenges.
