NTB Leads Major Tourism Compliance Crackdown Across Northern Sierra Leone
The National Tourist Board (NTB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA), the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), has intensified compliance monitoring and revenue collection efforts across the Northern Region.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that tourism and hospitality establishments operate in accordance with established regulatory requirements.
The enforcement operation is being led by NTB Chairman Chief Tamba Allieu Kokobaye, alongside regional lead Ms. Louisa Kanu and representatives of the collaborating institutions.
The joint team is inspecting hotels, nightclubs and other tourism-related establishments to assess compliance with licensing, registration and payment requirements.
The exercise aims to strengthen regulatory compliance, improve revenue collection and promote accountability within the tourism and hospitality sector. Operators are being encouraged to obtain the necessary licences, complete their registration and settle all outstanding statutory payments.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the team is proceeding to Where Else Nightclub and Hotel as the enforcement operation continues. Further activities are expected to extend to Kabala, Port Loko, Kambia and other areas.
The operation forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen tourism regulation and improve service standards across the country.
The National Tourist Board has reiterated the importance of compliance among tourism operators, noting that effective regulation can contribute to sustainable development, investor confidence, improved service delivery and increased national revenue.
