The Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Rt. Hon. Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, has arrived in Monrovia, Liberia, in a concerted effort to expedite effective peace and security initiatives within the ECOWAS sub-region.

His visit precedes the Parliament’s Delocalized Meeting of the Joint Committee, which encompasses the committees on Political Affairs, Peace, Security and APRM; Judicial Affairs and Human Rights; and Social Affairs, Gender and Women Empowerment.

Scheduled to commence on July 25, 2023, the five-day intensive deliberation will revolve around the theme of “Enhancing Political Inclusivity in the Participatory Governance Process: a Mechanism for Promoting Peace and Security.”

The meeting is expected to attract esteemed members of the ECOWAS Parliament assigned to the aforementioned committees, along with government officials, civil society groups, representatives from the Ecowas – Cedeao Commission, religious leaders, and resource persons who possess expertise in various fields relevant to the discussions.
