Yoni Academic Friends of the 80’s has on the 3rd of October 2023 donated the sum of five million old Leones to the Bishop Conforti Agricultural Secondary School in Mile 91 for the construction of the school fence.
Mile 91 is in Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone.
The organization whose aim is to build education in the two sister chiefdoms of Yoni Mamaila and Mabanta was established by students and friends who attended school during the 80s.
Delivering the five million cash to the school on behalf of the organization, Abdul Augustus Kamason, the Commissioner, said the money is part of their efforts to boost education and give back to the community.
Kamason said, the organization has heard about the school’s ongoing project of constructing a fence, and since it involves money, that is why the organization is stepping in for their little contribution.
Though the cash might be small, Kamason urged the school to use it to push its ongoing project.
The administration of the school has expressed satisfaction and thanked the membership for what it called a laudable and timely intervention. In a statement, the school said it is grateful to the Yoni Academic Friends of the 80s.
Over the years, the organization has supported pupils in different learning institutions across the chiefdom with school bags, books, pens, school fees, and other learning materials.
I may want to express my sincere thanks to the academic friends of the 80s for the great venture we pray that God continue to provide for them
Thanks to the academic friends of the 80s. I’m so proud of you.
