St. Edwards Secondary School and The International School have emerged as the champions of the inaugural FIRST LEGO League Sierra Leone National Robotics Championship.

The event brought together over 100 students from 17 schools across the country, with four competing schools battling for top honors.

The competition, designed to introduce students aged 4-16 to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), challenged participants to engage in hands-on learning using LEGO robotics. It was an exciting day filled with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

“We are thrilled with the results of this event,” said the team behind Altruistech Luminary Center. “This is just the beginning of making STEM education more accessible and engaging for young people across Sierra Leone.”

Organized by Altruistech Luminary Center in partnership with the National Commission for Children Sierra Leone and Coderina EDTECH Foundation, the event aimed to inspire and empower students in an exciting and educational environment. The goal is to bring STEM education to all young people, especially those from underserved and marginalized communities.

“We want to thank all the institutions and individuals who joined us for this event,” the organizers said. “It was a fun-filled competition, and we appreciate everyone who made it possible.”

Altruistech Luminary Center remains committed to transforming technology education in Sierra Leone by making STEM and digital literacy accessible to every young person, including those from underserved communities.
