The Students’ Union Government (SUG) at Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST) Makeni Campus has announced a temporary suspension of all student activities, including lectures, effective immediately.
This decision follows an unresolved meeting held earlier yesterday between key stakeholders and security personnel.
The roundtable discussion, which took place at the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, involved representatives from the Office of National Security, senior university administrators, the 4th Infantry Battalion Brigade Commander, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Mena, immigration officials, and other relevant parties. Despite hours of dialogue, no resolutions were reached regarding the concerns raised by students.
In response, the SUG has declared that all academic activities, including the release of first semester results, will remain on hold until students’ issues are addressed. The union emphasized that the administration must adhere to the continuous assessment protocols detailed in University Policy Page 144, which outlines the proper evaluation of student performance based on tests, assignments, class attendance, and participation.
Students have been instructed to refrain from attending lectures, with the SUG warning that failure to comply with this directive may result in consequences. The SUG has reassured students that they are committed to resolving the ongoing issues and will provide updates as the situation develops.
The suspension will remain in effect until further notice, with students urged to follow the SUG’s guidance closely.

"❗TIME TO STAND UP❗"
In the ongoing struggle for academic justice at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST), we are raising our voices against the administration's prioritization of structures and money over our future. The recent decision by Professor E.J.J. Momoh to delay the release of the first semester results and the removal of the first semester 30% assessment has ignited a firestorm of discontent among the student of the University. We argue that without our active participation and success, the very structures and money being prioritized will crumble. "If we are not prioritized, there will be no EBKUST," we assert. The call for immediate action is clear: WE DEMAND OUR RIGHTFUL ASSESSMENTS TO ENSURE OUR ACADEMIC PROGRESS. The atmosphere is charged, and the we are resolute. We have vowed to resist any form of intimidation, including the use of police officers to suppress our voices. This is a pivotal moment for EBKUST; we are standing firm in our belief that our future should not be sacrificed for bureaucratic interests. As the situation unfolds, it is crucial for the administration to listen and respond our legitimate concern. The message is clear: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The future of EBKUST depends on prioritizing our needs as it stands for now. WARNING TO ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS. We cannot stand by while others face the same struggles. Please prioritize their well-being. #WE MUST STAND UP, OR ELSE. SOME WILL NEVER GRADUATE DUE TO BAD POLICIES. ©CONCERN STUDENTS-EBKUST
