As humanity works overtime to scrub off the scent of pandemic era which rampaged the entertainment industry and threatened a devastating resurgence, we’ve all witnessed a boom in outdoor activities globally and in Sierra Leone.

Entertainers and musicians are not left out of this and have doubled down to create soundtracks to support the wave and thanks to this, we’ve had a sonically hotter year, with the airwaves taken captive by banger tracks after banger tracks.

Last year 2021, Sierraloaded started the Hottest Artiste List, an undiluted run down of the Artistes that shaped, defined and led music among Sierra Leonean consumers throughout the year.

This list underscores the entertainers who scored the biggest hits, tours, mega moves on the local and international scene, the award winners, and in general, the people we’ve listened and danced to for the past 12 months

Be sure you are following Sierraloaded on all social media platforms so as not to miss out on this list.

Drizilik – #2

The question asked by many was, how will Drizilik top the sort of year he had in 2021? and he gave a loud and befitting response, delivering the type of hit songs that were nationwide anthems, his power moves globally and relentless effort through singles and collaborations were yet enough to make him the big deal again.

Drizilik’s ability to wax poetic on hip hop and Afrobeats with equal mastery has earned him the moniker – Sierra Leone’s king of new school music and for over three years and counting, nobody is challenging his status quo.

2021 saw a significant breakthrough in Drizilik’s story when he left the shores of Sierra Leone for the development of his music career in Nigeria. The outcome were “Exodus” and “Problem” featuring Masterkraft, Markmuday and Jooel. These two monster-hit singles rocked the airwaves of Sierra Leone and Africa even up until late 2022.

However, Drizilik showed he can take the music industry by a storm when he released his sophomore album ‘Ashobi’, a Krio word with Yoruba origins that means to wear the same clothes in unity. The 14-track album featured Idris Elba, Ramoni, Team Salute, M.I.C, Mimi Wood, Mic Monsta, Fiokee and Skill8figure.

On the international scene, Drizilik performed at the MTV Base Africa day concert Hosted by Idris Elba and He was also at the Sierra Leone & Gambia Music Festival in Banjul and Hull City’s Freedom Festival in the UK. His ‘Ashobi Dance’ concert was sold out in Freetown and he is currently expanding his tour to other parts of the country.

Likewise, this year, Drizilik added Orange Brand Ambassadorship to his array of existing mega deals and we can simply put that this young lad has dominated the Sierra Leone music scene this year. For these musically driven reasons, He is the #2 Hottest Artiste in Sierra Leone 2022!
