Celebration and accolades is pouring in for contemporary Sierra Leonean Stand-Up Comedian, Mohamed Lansana Marrah popularly known as Oga Worwor following the success of his recent show Laugh Overdose Reloaded held in Freetown.

The event which was held last Friday March 4, 2022 at Bintumani Hotel, Aberdeen saw people from all works of life as the audience were thrilled with comedy, music and dance.

This is not the first time Oga Worwor will be driving his fans into a frenzy of all night humor exposure. In 2019, he gave us his first ever staged-show Laugh Overdose ‘Behave Edition’. The outstanding jester and a professional rib cracker roasts everyone he finds within his views. His stage name – ‘Oga Worwor’ is a misnomer, he is a handsomely cute dude.

Commenting on the event, John Konteh, the Media Manager for Africell said “Man, it’s been long since I laughed so hard for hours. The comedians last night got us laughing 😂 for real 😧!”.  He also added that Sierra Leone comedian have upped their games.

 

Entertainment Executive, Abu Bakarr Turay (Kabaka) also expressed worry that the comedy industry may be taking over the music industry in Sierra Leone. He said, “Salone people luk don lek salone jokes pass Salone Music. Interesting times ahead. Congrats on a sold out show last night Oga Wowor.”

In his own remarks, the CEO of Mastamind, Lawyer Mohamed Muctarr Sow expressed optimism that the comedy industry will gain more feat in coming years.

“I Wish the Stand up comedy industry gains the dominance within and spread beyond.. Oga Worwor just don’t be complacent. U nor do natin yet.. A fine start tho.. 💯”, Sow wrote.

In the same vein, Popular musician and Entrepreneur, Nasser Ayoub has rained accolades on the comedy industry emphasizing on their respect for time and the love in the industry. There is no gainsaying that Oga Worwor is the comedy rave of the moment and the reason is not far-fetched.  Comedy has always been imbedded in him since his primary school days, but started his professional career as a comedian in 2010. He worked for Universal Radio 98.7 FM in the popular radio comedy program ‘The Laff Doctors’ from 2010 to 2013, alongside Rumpel, Father Bless, Succulent, and others. He was also a guest at the comedy program ‘Laff With AYV’ on AYV Radio, with the likes of Desmond Benya, Agnes Bockarie and others.

Oga Worwor was part of the BBC Media Action radio drama ‘Mr Plan Plan’, and worked for the Talking Drum Studio’s popular radio drama ‘Bush Wahala’ where he exhibited his skills and proficiencies.

Oga Worwor was mentored by a comedy legend Franklin Williams, popularly known as ‘Rumpel’. He says his comedy career is an inspiration to him and his community. He has involved in several nationwide tours, campaigning on non violence, ebola and HIV sensitisation, etc. He was also part of the award winning comedy skit titled ‘Political Tolerance’ by Mastamind (SL) Ltd in 2018.  Oga Worwor has shared big stages with other top comedians like Desmond Benya, Kindo, Richie Obama, Yemata and more.
