Abu Bakar Turay, popularly known as Kabaka, has announced that this year’s edition of ECOFEST, one of Sierra Leone’s most prominent arts and entertainment festivals, will feature a star-studded lineup, including Ghanaian sensation Jackline Acheampong (Gyakie) and Nigerian crooner Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka (Chike), among other celebrated acts.
Scheduled for December 20 and 21, 2024, the event promises to be a vibrant showcase of music, dance, and cultural diversity.
Kabaka emphasized the festival’s significance, describing it as a platform for local artists to gain international recognition while fostering cultural exchange across Africa.
“ECOFEST is more than an event; it’s a celebration of unity and a testament to the incredible talent that makes our nation unique,” he said.
This year’s festival, themed ECOFEST – The Illumination 2024, will feature performances from over seven African countries, including Sierra Leone, and will take place at the Africell Building Beach-Front on Bendu’s Drive, Lumley.
As an annual highlight in the Sierra Leonean entertainment calendar, ECOFEST – short for the ECOWAS Music Festival – serves as a melting pot for musical talents across West Africa.
The event attracts renowned and emerging performers, providing a platform for cultural expression and collaboration among ECOWAS member states.
