Former Big Brother Naija contestant, Paul Barnaby Ephraim, popularly known as Jaypaul, has initiated legal proceedings against the organizers of the Sierra Leone University Festival (Unifest) following unpaid balances for his performance.
In a letter from Jaypaul’s solicitors, it was revealed that the legal action was taken after the reality TV star made several social media posts claiming non-receipt of the $2,000 balance payment since his appearance at Unifest in December 2023.
The solicitors’ letter, dated [6th february 2024], addressed the organizers, citing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) dated September 9, 2023. According to the MOA, the agreed sum for Jaypaul’s hosting services at Unifest was $5,000, payable in two installments – $3,000 before the event and $2,000 upon arrival and before the commencement of the festival.
The letter emphasized that the initial payment of $3,000 was made on November 22, 2023, as evidenced by an attached receipt and acknowledgment email. However, the organizers allegedly failed to fulfill the agreed-upon second installment.

Despite the outstanding balance, Jaypaul proceeded with his performance at Unifest under the assurance that the remaining $2,000 would be paid post-event. The organizers, however, have allegedly not honored this commitment, prompting Jaypaul’s legal representatives to demand the immediate payment of the overdue $2,000.
The letter concludes by instructing the organizers to transfer the outstanding sum into the specified account, indicating that their failure to comply would be considered a breach of the agreement with Jaypaul.
