Kao Denero, the renowned hip hop artist, CEO of Black Leo Records, and Ambassador of Entertainment in Sierra Leone, has addressed allegations of non-payment to music engineer and producer Nashito.

The allegations, stemming from a decade-old claim, suggested that Nashito had worked for Kao Denero without receiving the agreed-upon compensation.

Taking to social media, Kao Denero communicated his response in Krio, the local language of Sierra Leone. He asserted, “The pay way ar qee Nashito e passmack. Atleast u sabi am from that. Laj go woke with am after The ole industry woke with am aferwards. If na man wae get gratitude normore e for be more than grateful.”

Translated, Kao emphasized that he not only compensated Nashito but went above and beyond in remuneration. He highlighted his pivotal role in Nashito’s career progression, citing his influence in facilitating collaborations, including with prominent figures like LAJ, within the music industry. Kao’s message underscored a sense of disappointment in Nashito’s lack of gratitude despite his instrumental support.

The response from Kao Denero comes amidst growing attention to the issue within Sierra Leone’s music community. Fans and industry insiders have been keenly following the exchange, with opinions divided on the matter.

While some express solidarity with Kao Denero, others advocate for fairness and transparency in compensation practices within the industry.
