Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Kao Denero, has conveyed a positive message to his fans and fellow Sierra Leoneans, shedding light on the challenges he faces in his role and urging for recognition of his contributions to the country’s music scene.
Expressing his frustration, Kao Denero highlighted the disregard he often experiences from some Sierra Leoneans, emphasizing that many forget the arduous journey and sacrifices he made to achieve his current position of envy as the Entertainment Ambassador.
His message, shared on various platforms, read, “The most frustrating part of being in my position is the blatant disregard of the struggle in my story. People tend to forget the sacrifices made for one to reach the Pinnacle of musical success.”
The Entertainment Ambassador also addressed criticisms surrounding his acceptance of the political appointment and the challenges he faces in his role, stating, “Before you take a step towards hating on this guy all because of a bare title, just be reminded of the fact that he is actually almost working without an allocated govt budget or a regular salary.”
He defended his resilience against political pressures, asserting, “This is the same guy who was marginalized by others in an attempt to bully him to political submission while he stood his ground never to flinch.”
Kao Denero questioned the tendency of people to target him, especially in response to accepting a political appointment, and pondered, “Why do people tend to always attempt to attack my personality but act surprised when my large fan base retaliate in my defense?”
Amidst the challenges, he emphasized his significant impact on Sierra Leonean music, stating, “Most of my peers have resorted to doing self-comedy while I continue to impact the masses.”
The Entertainment Ambassador also highlighted his international recognition, noting, “If you visit Accra now and ask who is the Sierra Leonean artist you’ve heard of, my name will be mentioned. Lagos, Nairobi, Duala, Monrovia, plus more.”
In a plea for understanding, Kao Denero shared the personal struggles he faces, stating, “Do you know how much of my personal money I spend on the daily basis on the streets of Freetown being approached by the struggling youth for help?”
He concluded his message with a call for respect and acknowledgment of his efforts, stating, “Please be kind for once when you see me, I carry a heavy load that only God actually helps me navigate through.”
The Entertainment Ambassador expressed gratitude for both foreign and local recognition, acknowledging, “I have been awarded by foreigners throughout my career, but it’s always special when my fellow countrymen recognize my efforts with an award, be it small or big.”
Kao Denero further extended a message of appreciation, saying, “If you don’t have no love in your heart but please just respect or salute my hustle. Happy Sunday. Thank you. Ambassador Kaodenero.”
